For scrimshaw, knife handles, pistol grips, jewelry making, carving, inlay, crafts and repairs.
The great beauty of elephant ivory is due to the warm creamy color and its rich grain patterns. The grain
changes with the lighting angle, the same phenomena exhibited in opal and tigers eye. Elephant ivory crosscut grain reveals
an outer ring of bark surrounding the inner ivory which exhibits growth rings and a fascinating moire pattern. To these qualities
add the fact that it is the choicest of carving materials and that it takes a natural shine . The natural beauty found in
elephant ivory is quite simply enchanting. All of the elephant ivory we offer for sale was imported in the 1960's & 1970's
or earlier and is purchased from estates.
